Purshased as a Christmas gift. Arrived damaged. I contacted the seller by email on a Sunday morning and then went to church. By the time I returned home the seller had left a voice message asking details of the damage. They replaced the unit in time for Christmas. The unit itself is beautiful. Very happy with both the stand and the service.

I bought this as a gift and found it to be very pretty and packaged well. My only complaint is I wish the dome was slightly taller to allow room for taller cakes. Considering this, I would recommend it for someone looking for an everyday cake plate to hold single tiered cakes, cookies, or other baked goods. I also found this product to priced lower here than I’ve seen it going for in stores, so that makes it a good buy.

I registered for this cake dome as a wedding gift, and just received it. Buyer beware: it may say “designed” in Italy – but this cake dome is made in China. Had I known this, I would NOT have registered for/bought it. The description is incredibly misleading.
In addition to this, and as is the case with most things mass-produced in China, the quality is no superb, certainly NOT worth the $50 price tag. It has several little flaws, some bubbles in the glass (I suppose the only indication it was “hand blown”?) but the worst aspect is that the rims are not finished. The rim on the bottom of the dome and the top of the stand are unfinished and therefore SHARP. For $50 I would imagine it should be smooth all around.
It’s still very pretty, but for me the bottom line is: if you’re going to get something made in China and of inferior quality, save thirty bucks, and go for the $20 dome.

I received the item as promised by Amazon, I had read the reviews and saw that a few came in pieces. I had figured that the good reviews had meant that they maybe fixed their shipping issues.
I was wrong. I picked up my package today and instantly knew what waited for me inside, many many shards of broken glass. The item was wrapped with a sheet of brown packing paper and 1 flimsy sheet of small bubble wrap. The item never stood a chance! Contacted Amazon and will be sent a replacement. My advice is that if you need this item, order well in advance to allow for several re-shipments.
Will revisit this review when/if I get a whole item to review.
1 star given because the picture on the box matches the picture in the item description, about the only positive thing at this point.
UPDATE: Received the 2nd box a few days later, much to Amazon’s credit they shipped a new one and asked me to discard the damaged. Unfortunately the new one also arrived in pieces. The manufacturer is not packaging these items to be shipped.
I ended up picking up one locally for about the same price, minus the shipping headaches 2 days before my wedding!

This cake plate and dome cover look very nice, and the combo arrived intact with good packaging. However, there were two problems for me. One is that there are a few small bubbles in the glass, so it is not super high quality glassware. Two, and most important, is that the cake plate has a raised center where the cake plate meets the top of the stand; this makes the cake plate not level so that the sides of a cake may droop — not high quality for a cake container. I’ve returned the product. For the price, looks were not enough to overcome the two problems.
